I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 25 years and perhaps the most fascinating fat loss drug to ever catch my eye has been Cardarine (GW501516).

You may have heard from an endurance or CrossFit buddy about this drug, but with all the poor information out there you were being told myths.  This profile will separate the fact from fiction so you can take advantage of this amazing compound in your fitness arsenal.

History

Trained mice increased their exhaustive running distance by 744.4 m (31.2%) after 3 weeks of GW501516 treatment (TG versus TN) (Fig. 1a). GW501516 treatment for 3 weeks in sedentary KM mice also significantly enhanced running distance by 750.3 m (68.6%) compared to untrained control mice (p < 0.01 for NG versus NN). Similarly, even GW501516 treatment alone (NG group) for only 1 week improved the running distance by 671.8 m (48.6%) compared to the vehicle control group (NN group)

During a steroid cycle:

Duration of use

Although it has been found to be safe in human trials for up to 6 months, remember Cardarine (GW-501516) is still a drug and should be respected.  I recommend using for up to 12 weeks only, and cycling off 4-6 weeks.  After you come off you can come back on for 12 more weeks and so on.

Half-life and detection

The half-life is 24 hours so once a day dosing is adequate.  As far as detection times it is unclear how long it will show up in a doping test, the assumption is up to 1 month.  However, keep in mind cheating in sports is wrong and gives you an unfair advantage over your opponents.  I am against doping and you will get caught eventually.
