There is hardly a community in the UK unaffected by addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling or eating disorders.

But how does a local church demonstrate its concern for the individual and families affected by these addictions? How does it provide some measure of care and support within its neighbourhood for such vulnerable people without getting out of its depth? What level of addictions training is needed so that both church leaders and congregation feel able to make a positive response? How does a local church integrate recovering addicts into society and its congregation?

A large part of LFTW’s mission is to equip and empower local churches, faith-based projects and community initiatives using a variety of addictions training courses often tailored to suit particular needs. See Addictions Training Courses

The first objective is to provide training that is both Biblical and professional, enabling church workers and volunteers to be as well equipped as any to address these issues, and to be able to work with other local agencies and with their community. Secondly through the training we want to emphasise the role we believe the local church has to bring care and healing into fractured lives, families and communities that have been damaged by addictions.

Every community is different and, in every community in addition to its own particular social, health and care needs, has deep spiritual needs, which are so often unrecognised in today’s secular climate and therefore ignored. LFTW’s addictions training seeks to help the church raise its profile and reach out in Christ’s name to people who are often marginalised, face discrimination or judgement from others.
